Epilepsy


Epilepsy is a chronic disease whose hallmark is recurrent, unprovoked seizures. A person may be affected by alcohol withdrawal or extremely low blood sugar epilepsy is diagnosed if there are two (or more) unprovoked seizures that are not caused by a known medical condition, such as brain damage. Seizures in epilepsy are caused by brain damage or genetics, but often the cause is completely unknown. Mostly medication is used, but surgery can also be performed in resistant patients.
